Hey Y'all, if you've spent more than 5 min in Sephora then you've probably heard of the brand Hour Glass. What first comes to mind when thinking about Hour Glass is probably - EXPENSIVE and quality - and thats not wrong.
This fall, Hour Glass came out with their new holiday palette with five all new shades for $80, so I thought I would get my hands on it and try it out. I've always wanted to try Hour Glass products because they look so beautiful and luxurious. Hour Glass products also seem to have a cult like following online. So, I figured $80 for five products was more reasonable than just one of their other products.

To start off this product review, I'll tell you a little about Hour Glass - because with a loyal following like theirs, they have to be doing something right! Hour Glass is known for their stunning, sleek packaging; though packaging alone cannot carry a cosmetic brand (though, it helps that I'm a sucker for gorgeous packaging). Their products themselves are cutting edge and state-of-the-art. Hour Glass is always on the forefront of trends. The first time I heard about the brand was probably my freshman or sophomore year of college (3-4 years ago) from Ingrid Nielsen on YouTube talking about highlighting powders. Mind you - highlighting did not start trending until late last year or early this year.

Not only is Hour Glass on top of - or rather in front of - the trends but all of their products are produced without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, GMOs and gluten. Their products are also vegan and cruelty-free. While I'm not vegan, I do appreciate sparing animals and their byproducts. Also being a fan of bunnies and trying my best to do no harm, I love that they, nor any of their production affiliates test their products on animals. It's pretty clear why makeup fans are standing by Hour Glass.
Now, on to their holiday palette - the Hour Glass, Ambient Lighting Edit, Surreal Light Palette. This face palette includes 5 all new shades:
Finishing Powder - "Surreal Light"
Bronzer - "Surreal Bronze Light"
Blush - "Surreal Glow"
Blush - "Surreal Effect"
Strobe Powder - "Surreal Strobe Light"

I have to say... these products are STUNNING. The colors are so beautiful and natural. I think that if you're someone who likes natural makeup, isn't in to crazy colors or shimmer on your face then this palette is for you. The five items in the palette are so effortless. When I don't know what to do with my makeup, I can reach for this pallet and have it all.
The products themselves are gorgeous and so soft but... have you seen the packaging? I am a sucker for all things grey and white marble. This pallet is very compact with a high quality mirror (which is always important, especially when traveling).

I have to say, though, I wish the packaging itself was a bit heavier duty. I am a little afraid that since the packaging is so light that if I do travel with the palette in my luggage that the powders might break BUT overall I would tell you to RUN - NOT WALK - to Sephora to buy this palette before they sell out. I am sure they will go fast, my Sephora had to grab one from the back room because the display was cleared out.
I am excited to add this Hour Glass holiday palette to my collection and I have a feeling I will be reaching for it for a long time. If you all have any suggestions on any products that you would like to me to get and review - makeup, skincare, as seen on tv, etc. - please let me know!
by Kait, with love.
