Where to shop on Small Business Saturday

Forget Black Friday. I am all about Small Business Saturday. If you didn't know, the Saturday after Thanksgiving is Small Business Saturday. It happens every year and I always feel like it doesn't get the hype it deserves. I'm a strong proponent of shopping and eating small and local year round but this time of year the big box stores dominate.

Why do I love small businesses? For SO many reasons. You get great customer service. The quality of the products you’re buying is normally way better. You're helping out your neighbor. There's just so many reason to shop small.

Shopping small doesn't necessarily mean that you have to leave your house, there are plenty of amazing small and local businesses that have an e-commerce presence - so there’s no excuse not to shop small.

Here is a list of four of my favorite small businesses that I will be checking out this Saturday.

1. Arch Apparel - you can buy from them online or visit one of the many local boutiques that carry their St. Louis Inspired street wear. On Black Friday Arch Apparel’s website will have 20% off orders up to $59 and 30% off orders $60+. On Small Business Saturday all orders over $30 get a free “dad” hat (dealer’s choice, they’re all great). And last but certainly not least Cyber Monday you’ll find 25% off store wide plus free shipping and power hour deals. Check their Instagram for details.

2. The Spotted Pig - This boutique is located in Ladue and has an amazing variety of home decor, jewelry and so many fun finds that you won't find anywhere else! (and who doesn't love a good shop doggo!)

3. Daily Disco - The babes behind the Daily Disco are crazy talented. If you want a truly one of a kind gift check out their website and instagram. You won't be disappointed. I want one of everything... and then some! Starting Thanksgiving day Daily Disco is having a giant sale including their pins (as seen in Teen Vogue) for as low as $5. FIVE DOLLARS, PEOPLE!

4. Patterns & Pops - I fell in love with this boutique when I lived in Denver, so, sorry STL folk you'll have to shop this one online. This boutique started as a fashion truck and in the last year they got their awesome store front on Platte St. I wish I was in Denver for their Small Business Saturday Sale - their entire store will be 20% off, plus their $15 bins are making a comeback. Not to mention that they’ll have booze and dessert for all your shopping needs.

(Now let’s just remind ourselves that nobody hands me a glass of bubbly and a cookie when I walk into a big box store. Though I wish they would! Small businesses are where it’s at).

By Kait, with love!
